...sad...

reports of the massive earthquake and tsunamis
images of invasion of the waves at the beach resorts at southern thailand
interviews with the survivors
trapped at the airports without a passport
clinging onto the thinnest ray of hope to see their loved ones again
blaming themselves for not being able to protect their family
crying their hearts out
tears of joy and relief to be able to breathe again
tears of saddness to leave the ones you care for
it shocked me
it made me cry
my heart goes out to everyone out there
thinking why must such a disaster happens at the end of the year
it shows me how weak and fragile our lives can be
realises the importance of to cherish and treasure more

...a new haircut...

i went for a haircut today. hahaz... i was sick of my old hairstyle and wanted to have a change to welcome the brand new 2005. =D but i am not that daring enough to change my hairstyle completely. it took me much pain and tears to keep my hair to my present length so i dont think i will do much to change the length of my hair in the near future.

initially the hair stylist cut my fringe up till below my eyes and i found it very very very irritating. it took me alot of courage to tell her to cut my fringe short, above my eyebrows. everytime she snapped her scissors, my heart nearly fell out from my mouth. i was very worried that the fringe would not turn out good. i was afraid that the fringe would make me look like a nerd. ahh.... in the end, it turned out real good and i am very pleased, satisified, happy, excited about my hairstyle.

will i shock my friends with my new haircut when i see them? hahaz...

...christmas eve dinner...

hohoho merry christmas to everyone out there. it's christmas and tis the season to be jolly lalalalalalalalala.. so enjoy yourself and smile okay? since it is christmas, i should write this entry in christmas colours. hahaz...

after i reached home after my exciting days with sixteenthreequarters, i slept for 4 hours before i went to meet liting, fang and minghui at clementi for dinner. the dinner was great because there was the BBQ stringray with sambal, BBQ sotong with sambal, fish and cabbages. this time round, the stringgay came in one big piece. yeah... i love it! my mind was not working and i was in a lazy mood and did not want to move abit. so my dearest fang and minghui went to ordered all the food and drinks. soon after we had finished eating, liting came.

after eating, we decided to catch a movie at the clementi cinema. though i have lived in clementi for all my life, i have never been to the cinema before. hahaz... i wanted to watch ocean's twelve very badly but they wanted to watch kangfu hustle. we checked the listings and we had missed the time slot for ocean's 12. the cinema was not as bad as i thought it was.

for those who want to have a good laugh before 2004 ends, go and watch kangfu hustle. it is a very very extremely hilarious movie. the jokes are good and original. some scenes from the movie come from some english movies like the line "great powers come with great responsibilities" (spiderman), the scene in which a gangster is cornered by the "axe gang" is quite similar to the scene with neo and agent smith from matrix reloaded. the movie is worth watching. =)

after the movie, we sent liting off and went to the nearby coffee shop to chit chat. once again, i was in the dazy mood and was stoning away.

i need to catch some sleep immediately now before i fell asleep in front of the computer screen. hereby, wishing all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and may all your wishes come true.

...paris ris...

BEWARE: this is going to be a super long entry.
23 December 2004, Thursday

i dragged myself out of my bed and made my way to pasir ris to meet the rest of the sixteenthreequarters. i realised that i am very bad with directions. i could not make my way to the holiday flat myself. so useless... i ended up in some strange places like pasir ris st 52 and pasir ris town park. oh my gosh... i actually mixed up a loop with a turn and pasir ris park with pasir ris town park. i did not know what was wrong with me that day. in the end, i managed to find my way to the holidays flat. so nice to see them all again. =D

my first activity was asshole daidee. my luck sucked like hell in the afternoon. out of the 6 rounds that i played, i was the da bian for 5 times. what the crap... 5 times.. can you imagine the pain and misery that i was going through??!! hahaz... before we left the flat, we shared dingod's tiramisu cake. it was weijun's and hq's birthday cake and dingod baked it himself. woah.. impressive. the cake was delicious. now we know who we can depend on to bake cakes in the future. hahaz.. then we went to the park. we played swing and walked around but our main motive was to play bball. yeah... the match was great. i haven played bball with them for a v v long time. rj and i were acting 'intimidatly' because we are from the opp teams and we were trying to snatch the ball from each other. hahaz.. so funny. i think xz, goi, ah gong, dingod and the other team's lousy foregin player, kc were grossed out by us. hahaz...

soon it was nightfall and my stomach started to grumble. our dearest hq and matt called and suggested to go changi airport to have our dinner. we were all broke and rejected their proposal because we wanted to have a budget dinner. in the end, we decided to go to changi village to have our dinner. =D meanwhile, we played pepsi cola before we left for changi village and rj was our pepsi cola king. hahaz..

when we reached changi village, we could not make up our minds on where to have our dinner. afetr much walking around with our very hungry stomachs, we ordered our food from this very friendly aunty. hq thought that she had a hidden agenda in being sooooo friendly towards us because she kept saying she has kids around our age and understood that we needed to eat economical meals. but goi and i felt it was very normal for her to behave in this way because she needed to make business. when the first dish had arrived, all of us were very quiet because we were busy swallowing our food. hahaz... we were really very very extremely hungry. i think we settled our dinner in half an hour time. =D only me, myself and i felt that the doufu was not nice!! they sliced the stingray into very small pieces and fried with sambal chilli. i prefer the whole piece one to the smaller ones. i love to scrape the flesh.

on our way back to the flat, we were rushing because we were afraid that we would miss the last train to paris ris and the last 403 bus. when we arrived at the tampiness mrt station, it looked abandoned. the doors were almost close and we did not hear any "please stand behind the yellow lines". we thought we had missed our last train BUT we heard the announcement saying something like "... there's only train left to pasir ris". yeah!! we chionged all the way up to the platform and the doors of the train just closed right before our eyes. argh!!! that's the end, we thought. BUT there was another train 7 minutes later. 7 minutes??!!!! that's a long time. we checked the time for the last bus before we left the flat and we should reach the bus interchange by 2345 and it was a few minutes to the time. damn it... i think lady luck was on our side that night because we reached paris ris close to midnight and we did not miss the last 403 bus. yeah!!!

24 December 2004, Friday
once we reached the flat, we were all dead-beat. nobody wanted to move and bathe. we played asshole daidee again. this time round, my luck improved. yeah!!! i fell under the second lowest rank once only and that was the lowest rank i was at for that cards session. yeah!!! and our dearest shih's biggest and funniest joke of the day, "this is the card that i can never dream of getting it". hahaz...we ended the session when shih was one of the top few ranks. hahaz.. she must be very sad. we watched a little bit of vcd, the parent trap. we were fighting bravely in the battle against our eyelids and hq lost it when we started our cards session and a few others cannot tahan anymore. watching vcd was not right move and we decided to go to the park at 0400. cool...

we played this spin wheel thing and it rocks. it is tilted to the ground at an angle. at some point of time, you would be almost vertical to the ground. very cool... at the first round, we were all very excited about it and started jumping onto the wheel without any sequence and soon the wheel lost its momentum and died. sad.. =( we came out with a brilliant plan and planned our order of jumping onto the wheel and it worked. cool... everyone managed to sit on the wheel. we were shouting and screaming alot which attracted alot of crowd. they were sitting around us and looking at us. i guess they must be thinking we are a group of crazy people with no childhood as we were easily amused by this spin wheel thing. you can heard occassional shouts of "change direction. i am going dizzy." but how were we supposed to do that when everyone was on board on the wheel? well, nothing can defeat us.=D "everyone leans to your right", "lean to the left" and "kick the ground". hahaz... and we did it once again. yeah!! at the last round, it was the most terrible one. 3 guys jumped off the wheel at the same time and it started to spin real fast. and i really mean FAST with only 5 girls and 1 guy on board. when we finally felt hard and soild ground, my head started to spin and i felt dizzy. omg... but not to the extent of vomitiing yet.

next, we had a mini swing competition and i could not swing very high. =( cos i did not keep my legs in when i was swinging backwards. my legs were forever straight no matter i was swinging forward or backward. what the crap. our dearest matt was learning how to swing. not forgetting our rj with her weird yet hilarious head movement and shih and dingod's almost 360 degree turn motion. hahaz.. we walked to the beach after much swinging and sat down and talked for less than 5 minutes and we went back to our flat where hq was the only one inside, sleeping soundly away.

i thought i would not be sleeping last night but i soon lost the battle against my eyelids after eating noodles at 0630. i slept for almost 2 hours and we had to pack up and go. =) when i woke up, my head felt heavy and i started sleeping whenever i sat down. we went to mac at whitesands to have our breakfast.

we started talking about those days during our first 3 months. it's true and inevitable for us to miss those days but it is hard for us to go back in time and be the same again. life has to move on no matter what happens. though i only spend 2 days and 1 night out of the 4 days 3 nights with sixteenthreequarters at the flat, those moments i spent with them mean alot to me. thanks guys. =D but don't worry guys, because these beautiful memories will always stay with me in my mind and heart forever. i will tell my grandchildren how crazy their grandma was in the past and how much chaos she had created within 3 months. =D

...goodness...

i went to the national skin care centre today to have my follow-up. initially, my aim to go there is to find a cause for my white hairs but the doctors told me it maybe in my genes because they cannot find any problems with my scalp. how sad.. =( but, i did not waste my first visit there. i checked up with the doctor regarding this white patch on my neck. it does not itch but it will start to peel off if i scratch. they gave me this cream to apply on the affected area and today was to see how that patch is doing. luckily, the patch does not peel off anymore which means it is healing. yeah!!! so happy...

BUT, the doctor said it is a type of skin disease. oh my gosh... i could not believe what i heard. skin disease??!!! fortunately, it is just a mild one and it does not itch. for more serious cases, it actually spreads and itches. i am so thankful that i went to see the doctor.

after my trip to national skin centre, i went to orchard with my sis. everyone at orchard is MAD. everyone is rushing here and there to do last minute christmas shopping. the long queues at the cashier and gift-wrapping counters, people pushing one another, people carrying bags after bags of presents are a common sight there. we went to this cafe to eat because we were very hungry. we ordered a banana spilt, a mango smoothie and a waffle with ice cream, strawberry sauce and peaches. we were so bloated after the meal. those who were sitting around us only ordered either a waffle with ice cream and they shared it or a smoothie each. omg...i did not know that we were actually BIG-eaters. hahaz...

going to meet my first 3 months class tomorrow. =D

...4J gathering...

i want to tell everyone that i LOVE my sec 4 class. we had a class gathering cum pauline's 1 day earlier birthday party cum xmas party since we ate log cake at eve's house. it's great to see almost everyone again after a hectic year. i miss everything about the class, the crazy and lame stuff we did in RV, combining efforts to go against Kan and laughing our heads off at chng. hahaz... i miss those days. i need to thank our dearest pee, puiwen and eve for cooking such a delicious dinner for us last night. you girls rock...

our favourite pasttime at eve's house is to watch DVDs. omg... she has loads and loads of them. we watched both cinderalla story and troy. yeah!!!! i love troy. it's really a great movie and i fall in love with the character, prince hector in the show. to me, the most sad part of the flim is when King Priam went to find achilles to get his eldest son, hector's body back to give him a proper burial ritual.

ahh.... so saddening...

...well spent...

suddenly i have the urge to exercise regularly. everyone wants to be in the pink of health right? that's why i decided to go SWIMMING today. yeah!!! it was my first time swimming alone. i never like the idea of swimming alone because at least there will be someone i know to save me if anything happens to me in the pool. i am quite afraid of depth and water because i was nearly drowned in the sea once when i was 4-years-old. terrible experience... in fact, it is great to swim alone if you just want to swim and swim non-stop. i realised that when one goes on swimming trips with friends or family, they will tend to stop and rest and chit chat after swimming across the pool. but it will not be the case if you go swimming alone. don't you think that you look stupid, lying against the tiles of the swimming pool and looking at other people swim. well, at least i think it is. so, i just kept swimming and swimming for like an hour plus. occassionally, i would stop and catch my breath after swimming to the other side of the pool. swimming has always been my favourite sport. i guess it is because i don't sweat and feel sticky all over after a swim. maybe it has something to do with my horoscope since i am the water bearer. hahaz...

i have been doing alot of reading during the holidays. some of which are fiction books on romance, marriage, thriller, fantasy and also magazines. my all-time favourite during the holidays has to be the Da Vinci code. that book rocks... i fully understand why so many people is captivated by the story. the brilliant plot, the relationships among the characters, and many many more. basically it is the suspense and thrill that kept me reading the book the whole day.

the most recent book that i am hooked on is 'man and boy' by tony parsons. it is about this guy, harry sliver, has everything in the world. he has a beautiful wife, a cute little boy, a wonderful job as a producer but his whole life took a change when he had a one night stand. it starts to make me think why is it that most of the friction books write about the male betraying the female's trust by messing around outside but it is seldom the case for the female to mess around outside. this book is very thought provoking. it makes me ponder what is my life all about? in the book, harry thought his entire life was all about working and working when he still had the happy family. but his opinion changed when he had to look after the boy, pat all by himself. his life evolved around pat. he was his everything. how about mine? is it allabout getting good results and be a good student in school and good daughter at home?

to me, the most important theme is to cherish, love and treasure. why is it that one will start to cherish and treasure things when one is going to lost them forever? maybe i should learn to stop taking everything for granted. most of us are still looking for that perfect love but how many of us truly understand the essence of love?

"love means knowing when to let go" as quoted from 'man and boy'

...™ş( i )χ†ЄέΏ ¾...

as usual, everyone is late today. hahaz... so the lesson learnt today is never be early if you are going out with ™ş( i )χ†ЄέΏ ¾. hahaz.. when everyone was there FINALLY, we went to "meat you there" shop to eat chicken rice. i think the shop's name is funny and weird. nvm...

after eating, we went to play pool. that was our objective of the day. as usual, i suck totally at pool. my aiming sucks... and i kept making fouls. something was not right with me. and we took 40 minutes to complete the first game. and we were left with 20 minutes to finish off the second game. after that, the guys played LAN and the girls played arcade games. i am not very into arcade games because i dont like the environment inside. ok.. whatever... stop acting innocent.

i left earlier because i needed to pass one of the PA members his CIP book. haizz... nevertheless, it's great to go out with ™ş( i )χ†ЄέΏ ¾ and see my dearest old friends... =)

...ruined...

=( when i woke up this morning, i was not feeling well. i thought it was just the normal morning flu that i get almost everyday. so i did not really care about my nose. then i went to school to pass the presents to the admin com. we chatted for a while and i really really missed those times in thailand...

as the day goes by, my nose started to irritate me more and MORE. and i regretted for not bringing tissue paper with me. tissue paper is an essential for me today. damn it... i have learnt my lesson well and will try to bring a packet with me in the future. in the end, i could not take it anymore and go to the nearby watson to buy many packets of tissue papers. omg....

it just ruined my day.

...happy...

i better updated my blog now...

i had just returned home from a shopping trip =D i am so so so happy... it is my first time shopping since the holidays started. though the main objective of this shopping trip is to buy the christmas presents that i am going to send over to thailand with the rest of the YEP team, i still enjoyed myself alot. all thanks to my dearest liting. hahaz. she rocks... she brought me to alot of great places today.

it had been ages since i last took a neoprint. i was self-entertaining myself by the alphabets stickers found in front of the machine. they show the locations that they recommend the customers to stand on to have a beautiful neoprint. in the future if you happen to use the similar machine, stand at A or B and not on C unless you want to appear v v small in the neoprints. the fun part is i am able to design the background of the neoprints myself. we were racing against time and putting silly pictures and symbols all over the place. on our faces, our hands, our heads and everywhere...

then i continued my shopping trip. and i found a shop that sells bags at a reasonable price at far east. damn cool... i am thinking of getting one for myself. hahaz.. then we went to taka and went crazy over all the stationery. hahaz.. the notebooks, the files and everything. all looked cool to me but expensive too.

finally i have finished my shopping for all the christmas presents for the thai people. =D and it was time to pamper myself. i bought a yellow t shirt and according to liting, it is slightly green too. whatever... but i LOVE the tshirt. hahaz.. the design is cool and catching. hahaz...

i am going to school tomorrow to pass the presents to the admin com. thanks guys... and i have not prepared the presents yet!!! AHHH... the price tags are still on, i have not wrapped them up nicely yet... i have not.... i still have so many things to do.. =(

...can you feel the love tonight...

There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we areIt's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

i fall in love with this song after YEP...

...farewell...

today was the PA seniors' farewell. i did not do much for the preparation cos i was in thailand and i was in a dazy mood today. at the start, things did not turn out well. luckily things were under control. i guessed it is because both parties were not in their top form and had a higher possibility of losing his/her temper. nvm.. it's normal when i do not get enough sleep too. the food was GREAT. curry chicken, yellow rice, sotong, honeydrew with sago, veg and another dish of chicken. the honeydrew with sago was so damn concentrated with coconut milk. it was v v sweet. yucks... followed up was entertainment time. something like a riddle. then we celebrated yefan's birthday and finally the gift exchange. end of farewell.

i do not feel a thing about the farewell. maybe it is because i am not very close with the seniors. i spent less than a yr with them and my only source of interaction with them is by doing school events. that's all. how am i supposed to foster very strong bonds with them within such a short period??!!! maybe i have not tried enough and harder. haizz.. nvm...

my brother treated the whole family to dinner. we went to this whampo fish sth sth shop... the food was yummy. =D the fish reminds me of thailand. hahaz... cos i ate fish almost everyday in thailand. after that, my brother drove us to geylang to eat durians... yummy. my favourite fruit of all fruits. it was also my first time going to geylang. hahaz... i am a frog in a well??? yaya... watever... we drove through the red light distrinct. omg... imagine the number of hotels i saw and the glow in the eyes of all the chao chu(thai word). hahaz... i shall not eloborate further. the fruit stall that we went is fantastic!!! i was so happy to see so many fruits. there were mangoes, papayas, DURIANS, rambutans, longans and more and more.. cannot be helped. i am a fruits lover. =D

...singapore idol...

did any of u catch the final showdown of the singapore idol??!! hahaz... some said it is a stupid show but too bad, i am a singapore idol fan. i watched the performance at the PA chalet and heard the results over the radio.

i think both sly and taufik deserve to be the winner. i agree that taufik's vocal is stronger than sly's and he has shown GREAT improvement when compared to his first few performances. all the way man~... however, sly's mass appeal esp to the girls is definitely much much better than taufik's. he has the X-factor as quoted from one of the judges. out of the 3 songs that taufik sang, i liked the last song about mrs jones isnt? as for sly, i perferred his version of 'i dream' to taufik's version. not forgetting sly's 'an jing' cos its original artist is sang by jay chou. i am still very pissed for not attending jay's 2004 concert. ahhh... hate myself... why did he has his concert when i was in thailand??!!! argh!!! nvm...

it's really great to see all the finalists back on stage esp my favourites like david yeo and mia. haizzz... i was so sad when they were eliminated. haizz.. nvm... i just want to tell all of them that hey rock... hahaz... guess i have caught the singapore idol fever. =)

...those 16 days... dekrakpha

YEP adventure part 2

our first event at dekrakpha was the children camp. i din participate actively during the camp cos my welfare committee was in charge of cooking for all 3 meals on the 1st and 2nd day of the camp. the cooking was fun especially knowing more people like the main chef , P ood, P seang, P toottu and noon bum. btw we have to address someone who is older than us as P and someone younger than us as noon. the 2nd day dinner was chaotic. it was like a mini funfair and the villagers actually came. so we had to cook for more people. and the preparation part sucks... we actually started preparing for dinner immediately after washing up for lunch. we cut, chopped and cooked the whole day. the detergent was useless cos it was not soapy and it was really hard to get rid of some stubborn oil and strain and GREASE.

my bunkmates and i formed this NJ gossip club and our teacher-in-charge is mr menon. hahaz... we always have our mini meeting everyday and we were recruiting more and more people everyday. hahaz...

there was a homestay before the teenage camp. the homestay was cool... it was a chance for us to learn and intercat more with the thai and understand their culture. =) we took a motorbike there. the feeling of riding on a bike rocks... going in the direction of the wind. cool... our first job was to cut rice at the padi fields. it was a tiring job. we had to bend our backs and cut rice. after cutting rice for sometime, our backs ached and we had a few cuts. we got tanner too.. yeah... but we were too tan until my skin turned dry. ahhh... my homestay family is the village chief. he treated us very well. they prepared mattress, pillows and mosquito net for us. we were so touched. the father of the house known as pual in thai realised that i had alot of white hairs and prepared hair shampoo made of lemon and salt for me. he told me it can cure the white hair. so sweet... i was still cutting rice on the second day of the homestay. i will treasure rice more than before. dekrakpha's principal has a dog name bobo. it has human instinct. it was with me at the homestay. late at night when the 3 of us went to the toilet, it accompanied us and it waited for all of us and followed us back to the house. i finally understood why people always say dog is man's most loyal friend.

the teenage camp was fun and enriching. this time round, i was more invloved during the camp. we had this buddy system and my buddy is so handsome. hahaz... but he is only 14 years old. how sad right... it would be better if he is of the same age as me. hahaz... he is a very quiet and reserved guy. he does not talk much to people. i needed to initiate a conversation with him and pushed him along to be invloved in group discussions and activities. by the way, his name is jesada. hahaz... besides knowing my buddy there, i met other new friends there too like nod, toy, ah-cat, goi, aom, eye, tak, bee, bum, the drama kids and many many more...

the first and major crisis that the YEP team encountered happened after the homestay. a few of us had fever and started vomitting. they threw up quite a few times. some even vomiited blood. omg... we din know what's went wrong. reika had a tick on herhead for 2 days and thought it was just a mosquito bite. omg... in the end, she also had fever but she din throw up. things started to get out of hand and the illness seemed to be spreading and affecting more and more poeple. so our dearest and funniest expedition leader, mr menon decided to send 5 of them to the hospital. one of my bunk mates, xiaotian was admitted to hopsital too. i could not slp that nite. i was very worried for them and i felt weird without xiaotian in the bunk. the next day, the environment team came to dekrakpha to check on the health condition of the remaining people. they still could not find out what is the main cause for such a woo ha.. they only suspected that it could be food poisoning. the next day, i had a little fever. i was scared out of my wits. luckily i din vomit. i quickly took the fever medicine and the temp went down. =)

on the last fri night at dekrakpha, we celebrated lor katong. it is a thailand festival which they used banana truck and leaves to decorate a float. they will release the float into the river to thank the river goddness and hoping that their bad luck will be washed away. =) besides that, we had another culture exchange activity. they taught us how to make tie dye. hahaz... mine was ok lahz.. not as fantastic as others. they actually used mud and leaves to boil the dye. nature lovers xia...

the last activiy was the sports carnival. i thought it would be very crowded and hectic that day but the number of people joining the sports carnival was average. mainly were the children and teenagers who attended the camps. we played games like volleyball, soccer, captain's ball, frisbee and poison ball. we ended our sports carnival with a telematch. i was glad that the participants enjoyed themselves. =)

the night after the sports carnival was our farewell night. we sang songs and danced NJ mass dance to the song that thing you do. not forgetting, maha, jilline, meera and shamila indian dance to the song pretty woman. it was entertaining and funny. hahaz... the most touching part was when they started their prayers for us, wishing us to have a safe journey home. after the prayers, they took some white threads and tied them around our hands. it was a form of blessings. i was so touched that i cried. both old and young, friends and strangers gave me their well wishes. we din bear to remove them. all of us wore them all the way to spore. i still keep them in my journal.=)

on the last day, we packed all our bags and were ready to go. though i wanted to be home ASAP, i could not bear to leave dekrakpha too. conflicting thoughts. i cried again when we were on the truck, on our way to the train station. it was my first time sitting on a train and it sucks... i am stuck in the train for 6 hours. omg... it was damn boring... when we reached bangkok, we had 3 hours before pour flight for shopping and having our dinner. omg... that's really mad rush. we just grab anything. haizz... v sad... so little time. i din have time to shop for myself. ahh.... nvm... i can always go back to thailand again. the shopping centre that they brought us to was HUGE. i think it is bigger than taka.

when we arrived at changi airport, i was overjoyed when i saw my mum, my dad, my brother and his girlfriend. i really miss all of them. i was jumping and jumping and jumping. hahaz...

i miss everything and everyone at dekrakpha and khaoyai. i will treasure the times i spent there. i will take with me the lessons and experiences i had gained forever and ever.

...those 16 days... khao yai

hey guys.. i am finally back in spore!! did u guys miss me? hahaz... YEP is fun!!! it is a totally brand new experience for me. i am starting to miss everything there. the thai people esp my buddy and mr cool, the school (DEKRAKPHA), khao yai national park, the toilets without a flushing system, bathing late at night, my dearest bunk mates, the newly formed NJ gossip club and many many more....

i spent my first 3 days at khao yai national park. it is a tourist attraction and a nature reserve. its area is like 3 to 4 times the size of spore. omg.. that's very HUGE. it covers about 7 provinces in thailand. we slept in tents for the first night and it was freezing cold. i actually wore long sleeve, track pants, socks and covered myself with 2 blankets to sleep. i was shivering when i woke up at 5am (thailand time). one of my bunk mates, maha actually covered herself with the blankets when she went to the toilets to wash up. hahaz.. damn funny.

we were deleted into 3 differet groups and had 3 different activities over a period of 3 days. each group has 2 thai guides, one of which is mr cool. hahaz... my first day was nature walk and the study of hornbills. we went into the forest to get as close to the animals as possible. though we were supposed to study about hornbills, we din spot any that day. =( instead, many leeches found their way up to our hands. leeches are a type of insect that feed on human blood. and they will grow in size while sucking ur blood. they move forward by curling themselves up. i think they look like earthworms. we also saw some gibbons. they look like monkey with a tail. they said gibbon belongs to the ape family. the terrain was horrible. it was so damn steep and we had to hold on to one another or the trees for support. we soaked our legs into a river and had lunch. so cool... after eating, i attempted to draw some birds of thailand. the other thai guide, P Tock, came and taught me how to draw. no matter how ugly my drawing was he would say beautiful or very nice. what a nice guy right? he could not speak english very well so we had to communicate in simple eng and thai and body lang. =)

the second day was awesome. we played a blindfold game at the start of the trail. when we removed our blindfold, what we saw was a shockingly beautiful landscape. we were standing on a cliff and we were way taller than the highest layer of the forest.we saw trees and trees and more trees.. the mountains and everything. it was like woah.... the best part of the second day was the visit to a real waterfall. i had nv seen one in my entrie life before i went on the trip. in the end, we could not visit the most magnificant one in the national park cos the princess of japan was there and she was touring around the park too. so outsiders could not enter. so sad... in the end, we went to a smaller waterfall instead. it was equally cool too. we jumped into the water and swam. cool... the rocks were so damn slippery that i slipped and fell quite a few times. clumsy me...

the last activity was the most slack and boring of all. it was the bird watching. it was just walking and more walking and seeing birds and more birds and stretching the birds and blah blah... nothing exciting about the activity. i was impressed by the thai people because they know all the facts about the nature like the birds, plants and insects at their fingertips. they all can draw very well too. when they spot a bird, they will immediately take up some papers and a pen and start drawing. and their drawings are very realistic esp those drew by mr cool.

our night activities at khao yai were to learn some simple thai. but i could only rmb those that are used to scold pple. hahaz.. besides attenting thai language lessons, we had painting and drawing classes too. we either touched up on the drawings that we drew in the day or asked the thai people to draw our protrait for us. the last night there was writing autographs and more autographs. we actually stayed very late that night to ask the translater to translate the thai messages that they wrote in our books to english.

after touring at khao yai for 3 days, we were off to DEKRAKPHA (children love forest) school to organize 2 camps and a sports carnival. it is time for the 29 of us to work... =)

...to be nobody...

we always hear people encouraging one another to dream big so that one can be successful. is that really the case? to dream big means to be somebody right? hmm... what's so good about being somebody? somebody will have all the fame, power, money and attention. people will take a second glance at you no matter how ugly you are cos u r SOMEBODY. living a life of luxary... who does not want it? hey, hold on! maybe we have to think if we really do want to be somebody. in the process, we may lose one of the most fundamental and genuine things in life such as true friendship by hurting our loved ones to achieve our big dream. without the support from our friends, life is miserable. =( so maybe it is ok to be a nobody . if we cannot get what we want, it is ok. just be contented with what we have now. sometimes, living a simple life with no worries is a blessing. =)

went to celebrate my ally's 17th birthday today. hahaz.. she is finally 17!!! cheers... it's really sweet that the group of us are still in close contact though we are studying at different JCs now. that's what i called true friendship. =D it's great to see them and chat with them and talk about our RV lives.

after having our lunch, we went to watch SHARK TALE. seriously, the movie isn't a blockbuster but it is a great movie to watch if you are in a dam lousy mood or you just want to watch a light hearted movie. the jokes are not really that funny to the extent that you can picture me rolling on the floor, hugging my stomach cos i laughed too hard ya. somehow, the movie makes me think alot about myself.

enjoy the holidays people!!! =D

...it's coming...

satursday is drawing near and i have not packed my YEP stuff yet. ahh.... i have all the things ready at home but i am too lazy to pack them neatly into my backbag. what have i been doing for the past few days?? there are SOOOOO many things to bring to thailand. besides my own stuff, i need to stuff (see people, the keyword is stuff not pack) 3 packets of instant noodles for my committe into my backbag. omg... how am i going to do that?

i am scared. though mr menon has arranged many sessions with us to brief us on what to expect at surin and also invited other expediture leaders who had been to surin before to tell us more about their trip and the place. but there is still a bit of me who is feeling SCARED. i wonder if my fellow friends, who are on the same trip as me, are feeling the same way as i do. haizz...

however, i am also excited about the trip. though the planning and packing and adapting to the new environment suck totally, it is a new experience for me to really test my own limits in a foregin land and also in a situation whereby i will never be in in Singapore. i just want to have fun and enjoy myself there. hope that there will not be any hip cups along the journey.

...first time here...

ok. this is my first time here and i am damn blur about how to go about setting the blog and most importantly to design my blog. but it's ok cos i have great friends around who can help me along. i am so grateful cos i am a complete computer idiot.

i don't know how long this blog will last. the previous online diaries that i had did not lasted for more than a year. i just throw them aside to collect dust and rot and decompose and finally they vanish. hahaz..

wish me luck and happy reading. =D
